Newton v Dawlish Match Report 08.10.22

With a team of 12 taking on Newton Abbot at Clennon Valley, we felt optimistic in the Autumnal sunshine, despite the usual concerns of fitness and old niggles that always come up at the start of the season.
Newton Abbot were as strong as ever, taking the lead initially, but it didn’t take too long for us to equalise, with a lovely goal from Amy. Not to be beaten by her sister, Sophie gave us the lead, but Newton wouldn't let that stand and equalised. Neither team could manage to take the lead again, finishing with a 2-2 result.
A quick shout out to Jamie who made a great debut in a league match today; we look forward to seeing her continue to grow her confidence as the season continues.
All in all a solid team performance – it is hard to imagine that it is so early in the season. Lots of really positive hockey on display which will surely only improve in the coming weeks. It’s all about those right angles!
